The Role

Reporting to the Yard Manager, the individual will play a key role in supervising the Despatch Function within the Operation.

You will help to manage all aspects of running a Despatch Team on a daily basis. (e.g. receiving drivers into depot, issuing paperwork, liaising with customers/dealerships and managing despatch notes).

In addition to this, you will also act as a main point of contact between the yard operation and the transport carriers; helping to ensure a smooth and efficient line of communication is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the despatch function for all drivers received into Renault depots and ensure an efficient transition from driver reception to the end customer.
Be responsible for the timely and accurate distribution of documentation.
Ensure an up to date and transparent system is maintained at all times. Liaising with IT to develop/improve the current system and reporting as needed.
Maintain regular communication with Yard Supervisor in order to ensure that load building efficiency is maximised.
Help to investigate and follow up on carrier and customer queries as required (e.g. damage claims)
Help to record, monitor and analyse daily despatch volumes so operational performance can be managed effectively.
Actively look at ways to develop and improve the current structure so the despatch operation remains fit for purpose.
Identify improvements to operational methods, practices and IT systems to improve efficiency.
Support the Integration of ISO 90001 and 140001 within Portbury despatch; ensuring quality and traceability is maintained.
Be active in the company’s environmental management system by helping to support and develop training, waste management and correct recycling.
Attend training courses as required on or off site.
Be responsible your own safety and for those working around you.
Report any major breach of health and safety regulations.
Carry out any other duties as requested by your yard line management.

Skills and expertise

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic individual who is prepared to work and supervise in an ever changing and busy environment. A keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills are needed for this position especially when dealing both with the drivers and customers.

A progressive and proactive way of thinking is also needed to ensure that the despatch function continues to evolve and remain fit for purpose.

You will possess a full valid driving licence’, possess excellent IT skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Knowledge of motor vehicle operations, transporters and driver experience would be an advantage, however, if you are the right candidate then full training would be provided as appropriate.
