Ward Sister/Charge Nurse | Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust

We are looking for an inspiring individual to join our team at Uckfield Intermediate Care Unit (Harlands Ward) as a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.

Uckfield Intermediate Care Unit is a 16 bedded stand alone intermediate care unit, increasing to 20 beds during winter pressure, within the East locality of Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust. The unit is very friendly and welcoming with a great multidisciplinary team who work together with patients and their relatives/carers to support rehabilitations and safe discharges to the most appropriate location for them.

Please note that the unit runs a 24 hour service so internal rotation is required.

The role of the ward sister/charge nurse is varied and a great development opportunity within a stand alone unit. You will support the Ward Manager with staff management, incident management, patient flow and roster management. You will provide clinical expertise and visible leadership whilst helping to create a positive patient experience.

We welcome applications from already experienced Band 6’s or experienced Band 5’s seeking development.

Our recent Care Quality Commission inspection rated our community inpatient services as Outstanding for caring and our overall Trust rating as Good. If you are passionate about making a difference and want to contribute to an organisation which is continuously striving to improve then we welcome your application.

In return we can offer you:
• Flexible working patterns
• Supportive learning environment
• Dedicated career pathways and great opportunities for continuing professional development, including mentorship and physical assessment modules
• Commitment to and support for your health and wellbeing
• NHS Pension Scheme
• NHS discounts and salary sacrifice schemes

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care with MDT
colleagues to help ensure patients meet their rehabilitation potential.

Empower patients to work as partners in their care, respecting individual
choice and difference and encouraging self-care where able.

Identify significant change in patients’ physical, psychological and social
status acting on findings, seeking guidance and/or reporting to the appropriate member of the multi-disciplinary team as well as the ward manager.

Please see job description and person spec attached.
