Theatres – Registered Nursing Associate | The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust

Are you a qualified Nursing Associate looking for a change in your career direction? This is the perfect opportunity for you to apply for a post in Theatres.

We would welcome you to come for an informal visit to the department to meet our team if you are interested in applying for the posts.

Previous experience in surgery is beneficial but not essential as training will be provided and you maintain a supernumerary status for a 6 month period.

We welcome applicants who are within their last year of training with both full and part time positions are available.

Opportunities are available for continual development including Apprentice ODP reflecting our ‘grow your own’ ethos.

The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to join the Theatre Department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, at a time when we are redeveloping a workforce to help the recovery and restoration programme to provide safe, quality services that are accessible and sustainable for future generations.

The introduction of Robotic surgery to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site also demonstrates that we are leading the way with innovation and development of our teams.

Working as part of a team you will provide exceptional care for each patient, only ever caring for one patient at a time, enabling you to ensure you are always doing your very best for every patient every time.

Please refer to the attached job descriptions for detailed duties for each role.

You’ll have your NMC registration already, and in addition to this we can offer you dedicated support whilst you settle into your new role. Your role would predominately be in the Recovery area nursing post-operative patients or caring for the patient peri-operatively within theatres. You will remain supernumerary until the Theatre competencies are completed (typically 3 months recovery, 6 months Theatres), and we also have a committed internal professional development team who oversee all training we provide. There is also specific Theatres training and courses available to help you develop your skills and progress your career with SaTH.

There is also opportunity for nursing associates to access the ODP Apprentice degree level training.

For full duties and responsibilities please refer to the attached document entitled Job Description.
