Support Worker – Social Care

Support Worker

Sandstones, Workington, Cumbria

Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw)

Salary of £21,314 pa, plus great benefits including Health Cash Plan!

Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

Would you like a role where every day is different? Where you can truly make a difference? Somewhere that has great benefits and a great team?

If this sounds like you then we have fabulous job opportunity for you to join our team as a Support Worker.

Here at the ‘Allerdale RSAP’ we help customers who need that additional bit of help and support to sustain a tenancy. Our customers are all single customers, and they live in their own self-contained properties.

At any one time we support up to 12 customers at Workington and at Cockermouth. We help our customers with their finances; making and attending appointments; building community links as well as building the skills that they will need to move on to their forever home.

We help change our customer’s lives for the better. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, and their needs and aspirations. You’ll work with our Senior Support Workers and external agencies to assess and engage support for our customers.

We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!

About you

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.

It would be great if you have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you if you need help.

It would be amazing if you’ve had a job in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As this is a community-based job, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you start your job, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.

Working hours

You’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 8am and 8pm and take your turn working weekends which will be roughly one in every 3. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us we’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’.

Our Operations Manager is James, who has been with Home Group for over 13 years now. In the team there are 3 of us who work the days and 2 of us who work the nights. We don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

Be yourself at Home

Home Group is committed to tackling prejudice and discrimination, not just for our customers, but for our colleagues too! We’re super proud of our internal Diversity Networks and allies (Multicultural, LGBTQIA+ and Disability) which support colleagues from different backgrounds to be their true selves. We recognise and celebrate our differences, together we make Home Group a great place to work!
