Job Description

We are recruiting to a permanent, full time Screening and Immunisation Manager post to cover the Surrey and Sussex locality.

The commissioning of screening and immunisation services and responsibility for effective delivery of screening and immunisation programmes is mandated to NHS England. NHS England’s role is to ensure that the NHS delivers better outcomes for patients within its available resources. It will play a vital role in providing national leadership for improving outcomes and driving up quality of care.

Job Purpose / Summary

The screening and immunisation manager will work as part of the public health commissioning team in NHS England (South East) and will support the commissioning of consistent, resilient and high quality national screening and immunisation programmes, providing leadership, support and challenge to primary care and other service providers in order to achieve high uptake rates and reduce inequalities. The post holder will have a sound knowledge of screening and / or immunisation programmes and commissioning population health programmes.

The specific areas of work for which the post holder will be responsible may include population based routine immunisations, population screening programmes for cancer, or population screening for non cancer. The post holder must have an understanding of the current services, screening principles. Other responsibilities will be agreed on appointment in line with the needs of the service. The role will require considerable travel across Surrey and Sussex, and occasionally outside the region.

The post holder will develop effective working relationships and communicate regularly with a wide range of individuals, clinical and non-clinical, internal and external.

The post holder will have some line management responsibilities, with direct reports and matrix working.

Programme responsibilities may change according to the needs of the service.

The Surrey and Sussex team is based in Horley, Surrey.
