If you are viewing this advert, you are most likely considering returning to practice as a Registered Nurse. University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) can support you on placement to bring your skills back to a job you love.

The Return to Practice course is delivered through the University of the West of England. The course is fully funded by Health Education England (HEE) and a bursary of £1000 is offered to cover miscellaneous expenses such as childcare, travel costs, books and more. Depending on how long you have been out of practice, the course can take between three and twelve months to complete. By the end, and with support from us through an assigned mentor, you will have the skills and knowledge to return with confidence.

While you are completing your Return to Practice course, you will be employed through us on a Band 3 Fixed Term contract and be paid during your 450-hour supernumerary clinical placement.

When you have successfully completed the Return to Practice course, you will be offered a Band 5 Nursing position within UHBW and we will aim to accommodate your desired career pathway when placing you into a permanent position.

To develop clinical competencies to enable registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), contributing to the provision of high standard care and actively participating as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs from admission to timely transfer or discharge.

Work as part of the nursing/midwifery team and MDT progressing to:

Either (a) leading the team for a span of duty on a regular basis in a Ward or Department

Or (b) be responsible and accountable for the total patient care of a critically ill patient or group of patients

Act as professional role model/team leader setting standards of practice promoting clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching others as part of a 24hour service.
