Learning Support Assistant – 35 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Learning Development Team as a Learning Support Assistant. You will be joining a team that is dedicated to providing outstanding support to students with additional educational needs in order to maximise learning progress. This role is pivotal in supporting students by engaging all relevant stakeholders to provide a complimentary service to address the needs of students who require support to overcome the barriers to learning they may experience both inside and outside the college, in order that they are able to reach their full potential.
Our Learning Development Team strives to promote student independence by working with them to adopt strategies and develop skills to enable them to access enrichment opportunities and engage fully in their academic studies. Our ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people, including those with additional needs, within an educational environment but, as a large and supportive team, we always have a variety of backgrounds, experience and skills for you to draw on.
To be successful in this role you must be motivated to enabling students achieve their very best – balancing a caring and compassionate approach with the level of focus, engagement and encouragement required both in the classroom and outside. You must have the ability to work in sometimes challenging situations, remaining calm and using excellent communication skills to de-escalate situations effectively. You will be a positive individual and committed team player, but with the ability to work independently and on your own initiative.
