As a Classroom Assistant you will provide general support to classroom teachers in four main areas.
You will be responsible for the effective organisation and use of resources; the quality of care and welfare of pupils; the quality of learning and teaching in the classroom and the needs of pupils in effectively accessing the curriculum. You will be responsible to the head teacher but work under the direction of and in partnership with nominated class teachers.
It is essential that you have experience of working with children or young people; have literacy, numeracy and interpersonal skills; have the ability to relate to children and work as part of a team. You must also be flexible in your approach to differing classroom situations.
All classroom assistants undertake modules towards an SVQ level III Qualification.
Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for twelve months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.
