Band 2 receptionist Emergency Zone | North Bristol NHS Trust

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring person to join our team in the Emergency Zone.

The job is at the reception desk within EZ and you will be communicating with patients and professionals face to face in the unit and over the phone, so good communication skills are essential. You will be the first person the patients will meet on their arrival, , so a friendly positive attitude is important. The Emergency Zone Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and carers visiting the zone. They will provide a full reception service, including meeting and greeting all attendees to the Zone reception areas (Main ED Reception, Acute Medical Unit, and Pitstop), offering a high level of administrative support to the Clinical teams, ensuring the accurate completion of registration details, maintaining computerised records and dealing with queries in a sympathetic and appropriate manner

You will need to be flexible to cover when the other team members are on leave so a smooth service can be maintained.

We are a busy day unit receiving referrals for patients from most specialties within the Trust and direct GP referrals.

1. To accurately register patients and maintain computerised records to ensure all records are complete and scan paper documents once the patient has left the department
2. To maintain medical records by ensuring that all contents are correctly filed in the appropriate place
3. To receive and admit patients using the relevant computer systems
4. To undertake routine clerical work and associated tasks
5. To receive telephone enquiries and deal with them in a prompt, professional manner to ensure accurate information is disseminated to designated parties
6. To assist with distressed/bereaved relatives
7. To respond quickly to changing situations and prioritise workload with a view to resolving problems within limits
8. Deal with enquiries from police according to Trust protocols and the Data Protection Act, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times
9. To arrange ambulance transport for patients as required
10. To liaise with staff in other departments as required
11. To provide ad hoc information and support to other staff when required
12. To provide information to medical staff when requested
13. To assist in the training of new members of staff to ensure all staff can carry out their role competently
14. To be fully trained and competent to respond to a major incident alert
15. To have a flexible approach to help provide cover for colleagues to ensure that the reception desk has full cover for holidays and sick leave
16. To maintain confidentially and adhere to the Data Protection Act at all times
