Adult or Paediatric Registered Nurses | East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Our Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Units in Eastbourne and Hastings and our inpatient paediatric unit in Hastings offer you a choice of children and young people’s nursing.

Do you love the buzz of working in a SSPAU where you work as part of a well-coordinated medical and nursing team, providing high impact interventions from the minute the children arrive so that they can be treated and discharged on the same day. Do you get a thrill from seeing a very sick child arrive on the ward and a few hours later they are sitting up eating and chattering? And do you also love caring for children having day case surgery?

Or do you prefer caring for the children who have to stay overnight or for several nights because they need more complex care for most general medical and surgical conditions eg respiratory, diabetes, oncology, CAMHS and neurology and level 1 critical care as needed. Children requiring more intensive care are transferred to our tertiary centres for their immediate treatment and then repatriated to us for on-going care until ready for discharge.

Or maybe you like a mix of both.

Whatever your preference, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are a paediatric registered nurse who is newly registered or brimming with experience or a general nurse with an interest in paediatrics we have several vacancies for staff nurses at various levels.

We are proud to provide ‘Outstanding’ care and be a great place to work

We provide safe, compassionate and high quality care to half a million people living or visiting East Sussex. We are one of the largest organisations in East Sussex, the only integrated provider of acute and community care in Sussex. Our extensive services are provided by 7000 + members of staff working from acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites and in people’s own homes.

In 2020 the Care Quality Commission rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being caring and effective. The Conquest Hospital and our Community Services are rated ‘Outstanding’. Eastbourne DGH rated ‘Good’.

In 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to repair, redevelop and expand our hospitals, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Please refer to the job description attached.

We offer a preceptorship programme at ESHT to support you in your new role as a registered nurse. For those with more experience, we offer a buddy system within our team.

The posts are predominantly on Kipling Ward at Conquest Hospital, but all staff are expected to work in both hospitals to meet the service need.
