The BBC has highlighted claims about the welfare pledge in an article about the Government’s new Child Poverty Strategy. Will children be lifted out of “poverty” or is this purely a political headline grabber? Iain Duncan Smith claimed “Our reforms will move 350,000 children and 500,000 adults out of poverty instantly and the dynamic impact will change Britain for generations – a change we cannot wait any longer for.” All very admirable but the real effects must be long term and not short term.
