Welfare Reform Bill – Second reading delayed

The second reading of the Welfare reform bill has been delayed until September 13th 2011. The bill was due to be heard by the House of Lords this week but has been moved due to “Parliamentary Business”.

A spokesperson for the DWP stated that “The second reading of the welfare reform bill in the Lords was moved due to parliamentary business”. The news comes as many associations within the housing sector are questioning the changes it will have on disabled claimants when the Universal Credit comes into being in 2013.
